I’ve been traveling for work going on 11 days now…it’s exhausting to be honest, but very rewarding. As I sit in the hotel lobby catching up on some emails, I can’t help but be reminded of all the wonderful conversations and people I have met over the last 11 days. Even though I am mentally exhausted and probably only still awake because of all the caffeine I’ve had today…I am very thankful for a lot of things that I wanted to share.
I go through ups and downs when I write. I love it, but I devote a lot of my writing to work and so sometimes my personal blog suffers. I know this, I admit it and realize one day I will be more disciplined to not let this happen.
This weekend at Minnesota SHRM I had a great conversation with a new friend who I was very excited to meet in person, Lisa Rosendahl. I have been inspired by her writing ever since Women of HR started. We had a conversation about how hard it can be to keep up your personal blog when you are contributing to so many other things. It was comforting to know that successful bloggers struggle with this as well. But what she did for me, whether she knows it or not, is re-inspired me to keep trying. I write my personal blog because I love to write, really no other reason. My main goal is not to make money off of blogging, I just like building relationships and contributing to the community of HR.
She encouraged me on so many levels! It was truly the highlight of my week and I am so thankful.
I am even more thankful for the company I work for. PeopleClues has been an amazing adventure and challenge and has truly made 2012 one of the best years of my life. I love the team I work with and am so inspired by their drive, creativity, true entrepreneur spirit and willingness to learn and grow. We worked our butts off at HRTech and it was so exciting to be a part of that conference. The technology and innovation is so fun to see and let’s be honest, those vendors can throw a good party!
I have met some of the most amazing people this year and made some amazing new friends. I have the best friends and family in the world that support everything I do (and help take care of my kitty when I travel). You all mean the world to me!
Thanks to all of you, for making HR a great community and being great people!
